Shopbox is a grocery delivery service that gives you the flexibility to shop and collect your shopping on your way home at designated tube and bus stations, bringing the grocery store to your fingertips.
The challenge
In our fast-paced society consumers are opting for larger shopping trips, with smaller top-ups throughout the week. These shopping habits often lead commuters to stop off at the shops on their way home from work. Which forces them to carry their groceries on public transport.
Insights
“People are increasingly doing one big shop…every week or fortnight, and then topping up at convenience stores” -David Gray (retail analyst)
Users need a quicker way to shop after work, one that helps simplify the commute home.
The solution
The solution was to create a better shopping experience for commuters.
1) Eliminates the dreaded after-work trip to the grocery store.
2) Removes the challenge of rushing home to meet a traditional food delivery.
3) Brings the grocery store to your fingertips and at your convenience.
Branding
When developing the feel of the brand it was important to channel the brand's core values of sustainability, convenience, and quality. These values have been reflected in the brand’s logo and colour palette.
Iconography
The grocery icons are integral to the brand’s identity and visual language. These icons work together to create patterns that can be applied to the app, merchandise, and promotional material.
Physical Experience
The Shopbox locker is 4m (L) x 1.5m (W) x 2m (H).
Each locker has a total of 24 compartments. 16 smaller compartments for bagged shopping, 6 for pre-packed shopping trolleys, and another 6 compartments on the right-hand side for returning trolleys.
Digital Experience
When developing the Shopbox app the most important issue identified by users was the ease of use and the amount of time spent shopping. It was vital to build the digital experience around features that helped speed up the shopping experience.
